Let's figure out how to turn these features into a superpower.
Key takeaways:
- A combust planet is within 0-8° of the Sun, burning in its rays

Combustion: When the Sun Eclipses Everything 🔥
Combustion is when a planet is in conjunction with the Sun at a distance of 17 minutes to 8.5 degrees. (If the distance is greater, it's just a conjunction, the planet is "under the Sun's beams").
What happens? The Sun is our Ego, our Consciousness. When another planet gets too close, the Sun "burns" its functions with its heat. The planet becomes invisible to the outside world but subjectively important to the person themselves.
- The person doesn't see their own mistakes related to this planet.
- They think they are a genius, while others roll their eyes.
- The planet's functions are completely subordinate to the Ego.
Cazimi: The Royal Gift 👑
There's a very rare exception. If a planet is in the heart of the Sun (less than 17 minutes away), it doesn't burn. It sits on the throne with the King. This is an aspect of Genius. The planet receives the full power of the Sun. The person is incredibly talented in the functions of this planet.
- Cazimi Mercury: Genius intellect, orator.
- Cazimi Venus: Unearthly beauty or artistic talent.

☿ Combust Mercury
- Problem: Subjective thinking. The person only hears themselves. It's hard for them to learn from others. Talkativeness or, conversely, silence due to insecurity.
- Remedy: Write down your thoughts (journal), learn to listen (active listening), speak only to the point. Turn subjectivity into an author's style (writer, blogger).
♀ Combust Venus
- Problem: Egoism in love. "Love me, I am the Sun." Difficulties with an adequate assessment of one's appearance or taste. Complexes ("I'm not beautiful") hidden behind bright makeup.
- Remedy: Engage in art (drawing, dancing), develop empathy, learn to give love, not just receive it.
♂ Combust Mars
- Problem: Uncontrolled aggression or self-aggression (burning oneself from within). Workaholism to the point of exhaustion. The person works themselves to the bone to prove their coolness.
- Remedy: Sports (mandatory!), a clear work-life balance, delegation.
Feral Planet: The Lone Genius 🕳️
A feral planet (unaspected) is a planet that has no major aspects (0°, 60°, 90°, 120°, 180°) with other planets. It stands alone. No "wires" of energy connect to it.
What happens? This planet "goes its own way." It does not automatically integrate into the overall personality structure. It can lie dormant for years, then suddenly awaken and produce a powerful result that no one expected.
Pros and Cons of a "Feral" Planet
Cons ⛔
- Uncontrollability. The person cannot control this area.
- Feral Venus: The person doesn't understand if they love or not. Tastes change chaotically. Difficult to build relationships.
- Feral Mars: Either lies on the couch for months or works for three people for days on end. No stable energy.
- Feeling of loneliness. It seems that no one understands this part of the personality.
Pros ✅
- Originality. The planet is independent of others. It is pure, uncolored by anyone.
- Feral Mercury: Unique, unconventional thinking. Inventor.
- Concentration. If a person learns to "activate" this planet, they will achieve incredible heights because nothing distracts them.
How to work with a "Feral" planet? Consciously pay attention to this area. The planet won't activate itself (no "autopilot"), manual control is needed.
- Feral Moon: Consciously create comfort, learn to relax, go to a psychologist.
FAQ
Can a Combust planet be strong?
Yes! If it is in its own sign (e.g., Mercury in Gemini), combustion is not as detrimental. It is strong but egoistic.
Does combustion affect health?
Yes. A combust planet indicates an inflammatory process.
- Combust Mercury: Nerves, lungs.
- Combust Venus: Kidneys, throat, skin.
- Combust Mars: Injuries, inflammations, surgeries.
What's worse: combustion or feral?
Neither. These are features. Combustion gives an excess of energy, Feral gives isolation of energy. Both require awareness.

What the Sources Say About Difficult Aspects
The usual advice about squares and oppositions is to soften them. The reference material in our library takes a different line — it treats a tense aspect as a fixed amount of energy whose direction, not whose existence, is what you can change.
The aspect is not the problem; the level of working it through is. One observation in the material is worth more than any list of interpretations: at a low level of development a person will lie clumsily or fall into false positions in the sphere of the planet involved — and it will seem to them inevitable, and sometimes even constructive. The example given is a semi-square between Jupiter and Neptune, which makes a person susceptible to flattery, and that same flattery becomes their principal weapon, frequently betraying them. The mechanism described is not moral weakness but a misidentification of one's own tool.
A sextile is not a free gift. The material is careful about the difference between a sextile and a trine. A Mercury sextile does not produce instant, effortless, superficial rational understanding of the planet's principle — that is what a trine does. What a sextile does is make the effort constructive: the person who applies some work reaches a level where their understanding no longer profanes the principle but gives it new direction. This is a distinction most popular writing flattens into "good aspect".
Conjunctions are the hardest to work through. Another observation notes that Mercury conjunct the Sun occurs very often, contains considerable potential, and is very rarely worked through — because human pride, both mental and volitional, gets in the way. The person forgets, or never knew, that both their thoughts and their inner strength come from God. The point generalises: the difficulty of an aspect is not proportional to how tense it is, and some of the easiest-looking configurations are the ones nobody bothers to develop.
Where the classical and modern readings meet. The material on compounded afflictions is technical and specific: it describes a typical configuration in which one of the sexual planets is afflicted by the other of opposite gender, with at least one of them in exile or fall — for example an exiled Moon or Venus afflicted by Mars or Saturn while connected to Uranus or Pluto. The older authors and the modern ones in this library converge on the same method here: identify the dignity first, then the aspect, and only then the meaning.
What the malefics do when they are strong. A rule quoted from Lilly is worth keeping because it inverts the usual expectation: if a malefic is strong in essential dignity, it behaves better — Lilly's image is of a noble soul who holds an enemy in his hands but has no wish to harm him. Strength, in other words, does not make Saturn or Mars more destructive; weakness does.
What a difficult aspect does in your chart depends on the planets involved, their dignity, and the houses they rule — not on the aspect name alone. That is what you read from your own natal chart.
